1 / 5Man, I swung by Southern Distilling Company last Sunday, and let me tell ya — this place ain’t just makin’ whiskey, they’re out here runnin’ a five-star bourbon boot camp.
I took the tour, learned more in 45 minutes than I did in two years of community college. Turns out 80% of their juice goes to other little distilleries who use their kitchen and stash their barrels like it’s grandma’s root cellar. Makes sense though — place is loaded with big ol’ tanks and gadgets that look like NASA took up drinkin’.
Everyone I met was sweeter than a church potluck in July. Southern hospitality turned all the way up. And the whiskey? Buddy… it tasted like a warm bowl of peach cobbler that got baptized in oak barrels. I ain’t lyin’. Smooth enough to sip, strong enough to make you start textin’ your ex “just to check in.”
If you’re anywhere near Statesville and don’t stop by, that’s on you. This place is a gem — and not the fancy kind. The kind you find in your granddaddy’s tackle box that’s been good luck since ‘68.
