What PURCHASE under $1,000 is most valuable to you?

My iPhone. Not for what it is, but what it allows me to do. It gives me a portable and easy way manage and capture nearly everything in life. A phone is completely replaceable, but the ability it provides people is like no other tool in history. 

MacGyver was one of the influential shows growing up. I loved how he could disarm a nuclear weapon with a Swiss Army knife and some duct tape. Watching re-runs 30 years later though, it is very obvious that most of the scenarios MacGyver faced would be solved in 15 minutes with an iPhone.
