1 / 6After growing up in this area, we had never gone whale watching. Little did I know that Dana Point is the whale watching and dolphin capital of the World! Whether or not this is self-proclaimed, we had an amazing trip. Our family had the last trip out for the day on the Dana Pride. After waiting about an hour and slight disappoint starting to set in, we crossed in to the largest pod of dolphins I have ever seen; well over 100. There were so many we stayed out well past our allocated time. We were also educated that dolphins are whales. We saw your more typical bottlenose dolphins and for the first time a pod of Risso dolphins. We were too late in the season to see migrating whales but seeing all these dolphins in one place we incredible.
