What we collect when you read better.to, why we collect it, how long we keep it, and how to ask us to delete it.

01

Who we are

Better is published by Better Media, a small independent publisher. When this document says "we" it means that company and the people who work on it.

You can reach us at hello@better.to for any question about your information.

02

What we collect

We collect the minimum needed to publish a website and send a newsletter.

  • Analytics: pages visited, referring site, approximate region, device type. Aggregated, never tied to a name.
  • Newsletter: the email address you give us, plus whether you opened an issue.
  • Comments and submissions: whatever you choose to type, including your name if you supply one.
In plain language

We do not sell your data. We do not run ad networks that track you across other sites.

03

How we use it

To publish, to send what you asked for, and to understand which ideas are worth writing more about. Nothing else.

We never use your information to build a profile of you or to make automated decisions about you.

04

Cookies and similar technology

We set a small number of first-party cookies to remember your preferences, such as whether you have dismissed a banner. Analytics runs without cross-site cookies.

You can block cookies in your browser. The site will still work.

05

How long we keep it

Analytics data is retained in aggregate for 24 months. Newsletter records are kept until you unsubscribe, then deleted within 30 days. Submissions are kept as long as the related piece is published.

06

Your rights

Wherever you live, you may ask us for a copy of what we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete it.

  • Write to hello@better.to with the request.
  • We will answer within 30 days.
  • We will not charge you, and we will not treat you differently for asking.
07

Changes to this policy

If we change anything material, we will update the date at the top of this page and note the change in the newsletter before it takes effect.

This document supersedes any earlier version. Previous versions are kept on file and available on request.
